"I'll admit, I wasn't a huge fan "AH"'s 1st album "You Are Here" at first listen. I was expecting nothing but pure breakbeat madness all the way through & it turned out to be more rock/pop-y. After accepting it for what it was, eventually "YAH" turned out to be one of my favorite albums. Unfortunately I can't imagine their new album "Sex, Drugs And Blah Blah Blah" having the same effect. I hate to say it, but it sounds like nothing more than a rush job. Gone are the catchy beats & slick sounds from the 1st album. Instead they've opted for a more Electro feel, gone almost completely are the breakbeat sounds that made them big in the first place. I can see an artist making a sudden change like this maybe if they were trying to keep up with a new sound; but electro? The album really reminded me of Junkie XL's latest album, just a bunch of generic beats & loops with equally generic vocals slapped over top. Speaking of vocals, the lyrics to these songs are some of the most uninspired, repetitivly, annoying lyrics I've heard on a track in a long time. Take track 2's "I Don't Care" for instance, the phrases "It's Alright" & "I Don't Care" are mercilessly spewed so many times I was ready to go get a Tetanus shot because I was clenching my jaw so tight. It's just absolutely unbearably stupid & impossible to listen to all the way through. What, did they have one of those clowns from that VH1 "Whiteboy Rapper" show scribbling down lyrics as they were producing this thing? Just about every track on the album suffers from this. Guys, in the future if you can't come up with any worth while lyrics it might be best just to leave them out all together, believe me my ears will thank you for it. The music itself for the most part isn't horrible, just not something I would've expected from a well established artist's 2nd album. I really don't have anything good to say about the album. There are a couple of tracks (meaning 2, maybe 3 at the most) worth listening to, but I can't imagine ever going out of my way to dig out this album just to hear those couple tracks. At $20+ a pop, you can rest easy knowing that skipping this album is a wise investment into a gallon of gas if nothing else LOL. Stay away, stay far away, this album is nothing but a pure disappointment."
