Sluggo reminisces

"Just picked this EP up. Gotta say I'm surprised. Why, you ask? Well, here's an album, where, for once, Slug isn't all emo!! What we have here is essentially a 5 song EP of Sluggo reminiscing about his youth. In fact, the first track, Sunshine, has will smith's cliché-ridden "summertime" beat, in terms of lyrical content, imagery, and general overall tone - though in an ironic twist - it also references that same song. Pretty much a testament to Sluggo's genius. Anyway, another sterling effort from Minneapolis' finest. I could say more, but let's face it; all the real hip hop fans out there certainly don't need a bunch of badly strung together words from me to motivate them. Anyway, another sterling effort from Minneapolis' finest. Cop it now, you won't be sorry."
The 9th Installment Holds It's Own!

"When I think about Atmosphere's "Sad Clown Bad Dub" series, I can't help but get a lukewarm feeling from them. Each EP usually has a couple of dope tunes, and the rest are easily forgettable. "Sad Clown Bad Summer #9" is the first installment out of a 4-season series of EP releases from underground favorites Slug & Ant.
To my astonishment, all 5 tracks on this EP are solid. Some better than others, but I've been able to listen to this EP 10+ times, which usually isn't the case with EP's at all. "Sunshine" is a local/radio favorite here in Minneapolis, featuring Musab (aka Beyond) on additional vocals. My favorite goes to "The Number One" though. The beat, the hook, the warm lyrics - it's all here in stellar beauty. "RFTC" picks up the pace a bit as Ant tears through yet another infectious and memorable beat. "Mattress" & "Don't Forget" are probably my least favorite here. They are great tunes with great beats, but lack ever so slightly in the infectiousness of the 3 previous tunes.
Overall, I would recommend adding this to your library if you're looking for some quality Atmosphere to tide you over in between full-length releases. And although it's not usually the case, this nice little EP is just as rewarding as their full records."
A good summer CD, definitely

"Atmosphere is one of the best Hip Hop acts in a while. I'm serious. Slug and Ant are just awesome. Sunshine is such a unique, but feel good rap song for the summer. The One is an interesting recollection of past girlfriends and young relationships. RFTC has a dope beat. Mattress is a good song, too, but it's definitely reminiscent of some old funk or disco type music... (I guess that's what I'd call it lol). Don't Forget has a dope beat again using a piano, and Slug's spinning story rhymes of him and an old friend skipping school, driving, and just good fun. This EP is great. If you like Atmosphere, what are you waiting for? Just buy it."

"Im a huge Atmosphere Fan
Sad clown Dub 8 was cool and my favorite album is God Loves Ugly. This EP is off the hook. Since I got this when I Put it on, I let it play over and over and over. Far from getting tired of this CD.
It genius. The stories are amazing and heart felt.
Damn. Don't even got the words. Def add this to your collection. Left me wanting more
Can't wait till the new album drops!

"A nice little ep from Atmosphere. Only five tracks long, it's all tight except "Mattress" - it's alright just not something I'd bump. Ant's on point with the beats, especially "Don't Forget". Good story rhymes, I'm mean c'mon, it's Slug! Bottom line, you should pick this up."
