"Just when I thought I wouldn't find anything to listen to for the next few weeks to satiate my thirst for good indie music...along comes Aspera. They shake off their previous guise as psychedelia and put on their Eno hats. I don't think there's any guitar at all on this record. This is pure synthesizer pop-funk. Actually I'm not sure what genre of music this is, I hate to use the term "electro" because I dislike most of those posing wanna-be's. Sometimes it's spacey and sometimes danceable...this is like David Bowie's "Low" meets Sir-Mix-Alot; like ELO meets Afrika Bambaataa. There's definitely an early hip-hop influence going on with plenty of shimmering synths to make your eyeballs fill with stars. I had never listened to this band before and had it not been for a local record shop recommending it I probably still wouldn't have heard of it. I'm just passing on the good word...give this a listen. Before you know you'll be dreaming of rollerskating with Olivia Newton John in Xanadu while Biz Markie lays down the soundtrack."
