CD Reviews

Great Party Album
02/24/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is one of many AATW cd's that I put on whether having a houseparty or outdoor bbq. It always keeps everyone toetapping or even dancing along with their great music. They are probably the best country/swing band on earth. I always look forward to their next collection. This comes highly recommended."
Keepin' Me Swingin'!!
Big Smitty | San Antonio, TEXAS!!! | 06/18/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This album (CD) was released in 1990, just before my junior year of high school. I didn't get it until Christmas of 1990, and didn't stop playing it for months (or longer)! My uncle and I spent many weekends working bird shoots in South Texas (Cotulla, baby!), and he is actually the one who got me interested in Western Swing with acts such as Asleep at the Wheel and Bob Wills (who's still The King). Well, during our long car trips down IH 35, we'd put this tape in, enjoy the tunes, and follow the path of the highway ahead. Those that I've marked as favorites include "That's the Way Love Is", "Beat Me Daddy, Eight To The Bar" and "You Don't Have To Go To Memphis". My uncle LOVED "Pedernales Stroll (instrumental)", "Eyes", and "Keepin' Me Up Nights". Needless to say, ALL of these tracks have undoubtedly grown on me. Whenever I hear the tunes on this disc, I can't help but think of the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo, the brush country of South Texas on a cold, brisk morning, and sharing the highway and musical influences with the uncle who would shape the way I've developed as a person. Thanks for the memories and great music!"
