CD ReviewsDon't even think-- just BUY IT Sir Grand Citizen | Earth | 01/16/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "There's NO fat on this 2-CD set. Not an ounce. Ash have always been an incredible singles-band - in fact, they are that rare breed who not-only knock out near-perfect albums, but also always pick the BEST songs for singles.
As such, this collection contains some really INCREDIBLE music. From pogo-inducing gems like "GIRL FROM MARS" to great rockers like "Numbskull" and "Wild Surf", to sweet heartfelt tracks like "Candy" and "Shining Light" (surely a career-high, that track?)---- this compilation has it all. There is only one word for the first CD: SOLID!! The 2nd CD features 22 b-sides (picked by fans from a poll on their website!). While I wish a few different b-sides had made the grade, overall the choices are quite sound. This remarkable band has always backed their singles with great extra tunes, and you'll find many new favourites in amongst these songs. Only about 1/2 of their b-sides were able to fit on this 2nd CD, so here's hoping the rest of them are made available on their next compilation!!Overall, very VERY highly recommended. It's the sort of CD that, once it finds it's way into the CD-player, you'll have a hard-time taking it out!" |
