ARTIMUS PYLE formed from the ashes of San Francisco?s punk rock maniacs FUCKFACE?taking their former band?s manic rage and hyperactive thrash down a darker, heavier path. Slowed into heavily downtuned, sludgey dirges, ARTIMUS PYLE's music spontaneously explodes and implodes into spastic fits of hardcore fury and percussive bombardment. Recorded at Polymorph Studios by Dan Rathbun, Civil Dead is one very, very loud record and meant to be played that way. The CD combines the 8-track 12" with the "Cold Cold Earth" EP for a total of 13 songs.

"Typically, one associates the name of Artimus Pyle with the legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd. The band here, Artimus Pyle, have nothing to do with Skynyrd, never have, never will. Skynyrd's drummer of the same name, Artimus Pyle, is involved in a band called The Artimus Pyle Band, or APB. This is decpetive marketing on part of the band selling their product here. As for the album, it's hardcore punk, not classic rock. Please do not blame the real Artimus for things done in his name."

"Not to be mistaken for the drummer from Lynryd Skynrd (the reviews above make me laugh), Artimus Pyle was a thrash/crust/hardcore band hailing from San Fransisco. Think of His Hero is Gone, with more of a thrashy touch to them. The music is brutal, unrelenting, and punishing. Hardcore fans will enjoy this thoroughly, people looking for a classic rock album will not. Also check out: His Hero is Gone, Scholastic Deth, Severed Head of State, Corrosion of Conformity"

"this cd includes both the first artimus pyle lp and their second 7". the lp came out about 2 years ago (after a 7" on life is abuse) and blew me away. i got to see them a few times in california and they were always awesome. their music is crusty and sometimes plodding, sometimes frantic and messy. they can be favorably compared to his hero is gone etc."
