"Schnabel is well known for his interpretations of Beethoven and Brahms, but he certainly excelled beyond them. He himself adored these recordings and was really proud of them. I'm really fond of the WTC I fugue no.5 among others.
I wonder if he picked up any of his Bach nuances from his encounters with Brahms and Liechetsky?"
A revelation

"Beautiful playing of wonderful music. These recordings flow lightly but with some Romanticization but it's true, I believe, to what Bach intended. Bach was considered the best organist in Europe at the time, and his keyboard compositions are difficult in the extreme to play well. Schnabel makes the music flow with ease, seemingly effortlessly. I'm only sorry Schnabel didn't record all of Bach's keyboard music.
I'm listening to this music from Rhapsody. On my computer with a fair sound system the sound quality is not the best, but is clean, and all the notes sound clearly.
