"Perhaps it's hard to believe that Kim Sinh never heard of American blues before, but many similar examples to give from musicians located all over the world...
Anyway, Kim Sinh (born 1930) is quite a legend in Vietnam and many streetmusicians you hear nowadays in the cities over there, are using the same unique technique and sound of Kim.
If you ever been there, check out track 6, ...weird, alien space blues, same tune that's played all around you when strolling Vietnamese city streets. Only thing missing here with Kim is the distortion of the bullhorn/megaphone amp and the noisy mopeds... :-)Great record & certainly not only interesting for guitarists."
Still in print and available for less than advertised here!

"For content pertaining strictly to the music, I urge you to read the previous reviews, as they say what needs to be said. My review is specifically to say this cd is NOT out of print. If you're thinking you want this, there is no reason for you to buy it "used", "new" or "like new" from "other sellers" via this site for the $68 price listed above.
I, like possibly many of you, was bummed to find out 6 or 7 years ago (or whenever it was... tough to remember for sure) that the King World Music Library label was "out of print", or so I thought. All I knew was that all the sudden I could only find a handful of their discs and then a couple months later even those were gone. I had great cds from this label and had always had my eye on more, considering the liner-notes booklet always listed all the other albums in the series (for the main series of 100 discs, that is). After searching off and on and never getting any hits for several years I too thought this label was totally gone... but it's not! While searching again in 2005 I finally found a site... seemingly the only site (at least in the english language) that carries this label. It's in the UK and the exchange rate doesn't exactly favor those of us in the USA but that is all relative when compared to the price listed for this cd at the top of this page.
I put it off for the past year because I wasn't ready to pull the $30 trigger for just one cd but in early march of 2006 I gave in, ordered it, received it last week and am loving it.
Including shipping, I just got this cd delivered for $31 and change. The site is http://www.farsidemusic.com. Once you get there, follow the path : browse catalogue ----------> King World Music Library --------> South East Asia (Burma, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos) ----------> Kim Sinh: The Art of Kim Sinh.
At $31-ish per disc (and knowing the exchange rate will fluctuate over time) I'll still never be able to buy all (or even most) of the discs in this series that I would have originally bought for more reasonable prices but this is better than nothing and will certainly help me (and you) grab some essentials.
