A valuable of an amazing musician!

"The name Camilla Wicks is all but unknown today which is unfortunate, for here on CD we have evidence of a violinist of uncommonly great talent. Take the Beethoven Concerto. The rapport between Wicks, Bruno Walter and the New York Philharmonic is magical. That word also typifies the performance: Wicks captivates the listener with her deep knowledge of the violinist's part in the whole fabric of this piece. Nuances and phrasing are at a far greater intensity than what we would hear from the greats such as Heifetz. Same goes for the Sibelius (alas, only the third movement) which has more verve than any other violinist I have ever heard. The other crowning glory of this CD is the Tchaikovsky with Arthur Fiedler conducting. Wicks and Fiedler actually are listening to each other with Fiedler supplying Wicks with the kind of firm support every artist dreams of but never gets. It's a gigantic pity that these two are heard only in the first movement which Wicks plays with care in shadings that escape most other artists. This is a CD to cherish for the rare opportunity to hear a really GREAT violinist at work."
One of the greats/ a must buy for any serious violinist

"Camilla's interpretation of the Beethoven in this CD is the most solid, lyrical and passionate I have heard. Her musicality and magnicificent phrasing show that she was truly one of the all time greats, and at such a young age. The Bloch is brilliant and her interpretation of the Sibelius is one that all others should be judged upon. Her bow technique is perfect. The Tchaikovsky is gorgeous and her cadenza is the best I've heard. She always has precise clarity and warm tone in her playing. No matter how fast she is playing every note is perfectly clear. This is a must buy for any serious violinist."
