Surprise find

"it started out with a wynton marsalis compilation, which was really an art blakey compilation featuring wynton. while most of the original compositions were brilliant, some of the standards were not. so i began looking for albums that had the originals but not the standards. so after some time of collecting albums, i finally and only through amazon bought this the last album that completed the process, in particular the tracks 'wheel within a wheel' & 'bit a bittadose'. i have a few of art blakeys jazz messengers from this period and it is by far my favourite. i can not, should not and will not comment on the playing or the recording, but the compositions are some of the best from this period."
