Album Details

Recorded in 1956/57 and featuring Great Sidemen Such As: Jo Jones (Drums), Ray Bryant (Piano), Oscar Pettiford (Bass,cello), Jackie Mclean (Alto) and Bill Hardman (Trumpet). This CD is Composed of Two Different Sessions. The First is Afro-Cuban and Highlights the Percussion Talents of Conga Masters Sabu and Candido. The Second Session features Straight-Ahead Jazz in the Inimitable Messengers Style.

"An amazing Drum Record. I first bought the LP record in 1960. Three tracks were on one side IE:- The Sacrifice, Cubano Chant and Oscalypso.

The three tracks on the other side were by the Jazz Messengers and were not my type of music, however, the Sacrifice and Oscalypso made the disc worth buying. Wonderful drumming!!!

I was amazed to see Drum Suite available as a CD almost 50 years after it was recorded, so I had Amazon send one to me in Australia."
