"Although the booklet doesn't list the names of the musicians or the recording date, this CD is actually a reissue of a live session from Slugs's Saloon in NYC during August of 1968 and features:

Bill Hardman (tp) Julian Priester (tb) Billy Harper (ts) Ronnie Matthews (p) Larry Evans (b) Art Blakey (d)

The recording quality is good (not great) but the arrangements and solos are excellent. This CD is presently selling for only a few dollars on most web sites and features an interesting and little-known Messengers lineup.
