CD ReviewsL.A. Pop Bliss noisyspoon | Colorado, US of A | 01/20/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "I love living in Los Angeles. We have fantastic weather, exciting earthquakes, lots of great restaraunts, amazing scenery, some of the best art museums in the world...Oh... and we have Arlo.It seems appropriate that music this pleasant would come out of my beloved L.A., with it's pleasant sunny days, green, rolling hills, and bending palm trees. Wait. Maybe pleasant isn't the right word. Pleasant makes them sound plebian and dull, but that's hardly the case. Arlo makes pop the way it was meant to be played. Noisy, loud, and fun, gosh darn it."Up High In The Night" is a perfect pop record. Arlo should be giving Sloan a run for their money any day now. They've got the chops, and they're saving Sub Pop from it's recent trend of boring "Rawk 'n' Roll" releases. Hardly. Arlo rocks harder (albeit in a poppier way) than all those hacks. It's all here, two, loud, fuzzy guitars, interchanging, trade-off vocals, infectious rhythms, and those sweet Beach Boys esque harmonies. And would it help to mention that they ROCK. These guys can be loud. All the bases are covered. From the sugary 'Elena' to the jangly 'Forgoten'. This cd has been a permanent fixture in my little cd travel case. It plays endlessly on repeat in my car. The soundtrack to my days' travels through L.A." Arlo--Nice Buncha Guys noisyspoon | 02/19/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "Purchase this CD. Arlo are a nice buncha guys who put out a nice buncha tunes. The lyrics are hilarious if you give them a good listen. Oh yeah, and "Forgotten" will give you an idea of what these cuties are capable of creating." Absolutely awesome noisyspoon | 04/12/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is some of the most unrelenting, sincere and sometimes downright cathartic rock I've heard in quite some time. I'm sorry if the reviewer below me thinks it lays back on "harmonies" and "catchy tunes". Perhaps he had better buy a Hanson CD. Arlo just plain rocks."
