4 1/2 stars for excellent post-punk sounds.

"my favorite magazine, the british publication "mojo," picked this as the fifth best album of 2006, right after bruce springsteen's "we shall overcome." and a fine recording this is. fresh and energetic, it brings to my mind the post-punk sounds of the early, early 80's. think of "the cure," only with a more raw, edgier, harder rocking sound. there are slashing guitars and passionate vocals galore on this excellent release, which i highly recommend.

"The ABO gets through almost 40 minutes on this album with only a few chords, some loud guitars, plently of reverb, and lots of energy and VU-esque menace. 10 songs of leather-jacket bombast with little melodic content, followed by a haunting little acoustic number. I would have liked some of the sensitivity and melody of "Harp for my Sweetheart" injected into a few of the other songs, but as it is, it lies fairly well next to that new album by The Duke Spirit and other back-to-basics rock droners. Some of the songs make you want to drink beer and shoot pool and think about getting in a fight, some make you want to do all of the above but consider it a spiritual experience."

"Archie Bronson Outfit is a 3-piece from England, with a sound that I have a very hard time defining. They have a few characteristics: the singer's wail of a voice, the guitar's twang, the drummer's determined, staccato beats, that do define their sound, but I can't seem to give their music a proper description. What I can say is that their sound is totally different from anything I have heard from any other band, and I like it. They are original, I will give them that! Dart for My Sweetheart is so different and so amazingly infectious, that a lot of the time I begin the disc by listening to that track and I end up repeating it, I love it that much. Other highlights are Cherry Lips, Kink, Got To Get, Cuckoo, Jab Jab, and Rituals. My second favorite track is Dead Funny, which has the same sort of vibe & flow as Dart does, musically; lyrically, Dead Funny is not for the faint of heart or easily offended. In fact, most of ABO's lyrics are about sex, to be blunt. They have some explicit lyrics scattered throughout the songs, and there are some very keen images in songs like Cherry Lips and Modern Lovers (a song that is stripped of guitar hooks and may take a few listens to get into, but it says plenty about a certain type of relationship many young people find themselves in these days!). I don't often find myself listening to the entire album start to finish, which is why I give it 4 stars, but there are enough really good to great songs here that anyone looking for something truly different (as indie rock fans often are) should give Derdang a listen. Supposedly, Derdang Derdang is a way of saying 'during the day, during the day', I'm guessing in England, where the ABO boys are from. And the lyrics are included, so there is NO doubt as to what they are singing about."
