CD Reviews

Finally, it has been remastered.

"I read somewhere that they called this album the best Duran Duran cd that never was. It truly is. It was a good departure for the remaining members of Duran Duran, after Andy and John were off with Power Station. This album is very Duran Duran, yet there is a darkness and a more experimental feel to it that sets it apart. You can hear carry on in the "Notorious" album. I always had to raise the volume on this cd since it felt like it was recorded very low and it lacked fullness. I was very excited when I heard that a remastered edition was on its way. Not only that, it was great hear that remixes and videos were included in this set. The remastering sounds excellent. The volume is up but not distorded like in many remaster jobs. It's nice to hear the bass levels up, very crisp and punchy. I love it. The videos are excellent as well. It was nice to see a different video for "Election Day", as this is not the video that aired on MTV back in '86. I highly recommend this edition."
Sounds sublime...

"My basis for this review is simply on sound alone. It's always a tricky outcome when 80s synth/pop discs are remastered and re-released (IMO). Oddly, I wasn't completely blown away with the treatment of 7 Ragged Tiger - but with So Red The Rose, I'm hearing things I've never heard before. Everything seems to be highlighted and brought out to the front a bit more. Quite frankly, I never heard Sting's voice on this disc before. The volume is nicely adjusted in the remastering too. So - on sound alone - these songs get a well needed and successful treatment.

My only complaint is the jewel case. A jewel case??? It's bad enough they still make them for single discs - but for doubles and triples??? Strange - but obviously, it has no bearing on the sound.

Recommended."

"The first disc alone is fantastic and to throw in the extras has made this disc even better. A must have for Duran fans"
