""a music fan" mostly said it all. aquasky seems to be usually lumped in with the nu skool scene, but they are distinctive in that they drop beats at 170-180 bpm (dnb territory) while still using the typical nu breaks sounds of distorted basslines and wierd creepy atmosphere. this is really dark and raw stuff, the beats are hard and scrappy and definitely not for mellowing out to. its the kind of stuff that will give you a headache if you aren't ready for it. my only real complaint is "manmade symphony" on disc 2 which is essentially a re-hash of "blue thunder" on disc 1.. interestingly they are both the third track on their respective discs. besides that, this is a very interesting 2-something hours of sparse and nasty electronics. nu skool heads will probably dig this because of the production aesthetic, dnb fans might not because the "roll" of dnb is not really here, only the BPMs."
