Synopsis

Album Description
Official 2009 release of the 13th album from the Canadian Heavy Metal band featuring one bonus track: 'Thumb Hang'. The recording of this album is documented in the critically acclaimed documentary, The Story Of Anvil. Forming in 1982, Anvil released one of the heaviest albums of all time Metal On Metal - influencing some of the biggest names in Rock including Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax. But while those bands went on to sell millions of albums and achieve international fame, Anvil's career took a different path - straight to obscurity. Their 25+ career has led to this album and renewed interest in the band thanks to the overwhelming response to the documentary.

Let lips play!!

"this is exactly what anvil fans want, grown people can and do listen to grown people play. its metal. period. the whole band deserves way more respect than has been given, they were and are as honest and heavy as it gets. SUPPORT ANVIL!!!

update, im not the typical target here, but they got me, in my youth, i liked metal(antrax, slayer, megadeth) but the past ten years ive been listening to jazz and delta blues, after listening to thirteen again, im really impressed, ive been listening to this for about a week, im remembering how much i like metal, i hear alot of motorhead and preist in it. its a great album that needs no apologies, and their story makes it even more fun to hear, lips is probaly the most likeable guy in the world. listen to the samples, and you will hear Metal, good metal, not cheese, not poser, classic metal."
Best Anvil Album Ever? I've been part of worse discussions ;

"I must admit, I was hesitant to get this. Some of Anvil's more recent music hasn't really caught the full attention of my ears. I'll also admit that I'm no expert when it comes to Anvil. But, I've done my share of head-banging to their music; mainly their early 80's stuff. However, I do own just about everything they've released. So, after listening to the clips here, I gave the good old boys another shot with This Is Thirteen (without yet seeing the movie, The Story of Anvil). Anyway, I'd definitely give this 9 out of 10, or 4.5 out of 5; but since someone gave it a 2, I'm rounding up to 5! This is a great album, and definitely lives up to the hype surrounding their new DVD story. At first listen the sound is unmistakably like the Anvil we all know, knew, or should have known. On second listen it gets much, much stronger. I've just gotten through my third listen and it is worthy of many more. Memories of Metal On Metal and Forged In Fire abound, and those old CDs have been dusted off :) If you've ever liked any Anvil music you will surely like this. But, it's very evident that they've put extra efforts into this, especially when compared to some of their more recent stuff. There's a lot of really nice variations and arrangements here. The instruments all work very well together, and on their own, and the vocals are classic. This album may not be the album of the year, but I believe it to be the best Anvil album yet. Keep bringing it boys."
Big 5

"It should of been the big 5 of thrash metal. Slayer, Megadeth, Metallica, Anthrax and Anvil"
