"For what its worth, this CD finds its way to my CD player all of the time these days.



From my review of their previous album: "The music is certainly more intricate & creative than most, but they never seem to loose sight of the goal of creating enjoyable songs. Unlike some metal bands these days (*dragonforce*), they use heavy and complex rhythms, which makes the music more interesting for me. The guitars (both 6 string and 4 string variety) are important to me, since I play guitar myself. They are never dull, but at the same time never self-serving or obnoxious. It seems that the riffs were written to make great music, not feed the musicians' egos. The vocals are also very fitting and enjoyable, you'll find yourself singing along in no time. One final note about the sound: they make use of electronic sounds and times, which I think works well for them."



I actually think I prefer this CD over "Andromeda Unchained". Both are fantastic albums, but "The Detached" seems more solid and consistent to me. It didn't grab me as quickly, but has held my attention for longer. If I had to pick a favorite track I think it would be "Bloodoath."



Bottom line: you owe it to yourself to give this album a listen."

"I've been following the band for the last two years now, since their previous album "Andromeda Unchained" and I'm really loving their sound and their direction. They started as a mostly power metal band and changed to prog metal, which their last two albums are entirely.



As for "The Detached", it is once again a concept album, this time about some people who can control space and time. I have not read the whole booklet yet, sorry about that.



Musically, you can expect a lot. Great themes, some of them appearing in many songs, giving a lot of cohesion to the whole album. Varied feels for songs that need to take you somewhere (like the Egyptian feel in "Pyramids" or the cold and stripped down feel in "Ammonia Snow"). The average length of the songs is 6:30, so most songs are built around the usual prog structure (verse - chorus - verse - chorus - new theme/solos - chorus). There are solos, but no pointless/endless wankery from anyone.



Production is, as expected, very very good. Famed producer (and singer of the band) Jacob Hansen did a near perfect job once again. Everything is crisp and clean, all the instruments can be heard as they should, at all times. The only complain that I would make is that the vocals sound too much like most prog metal vocals these days. It lacks some warmth, it's not organic enough, to my taste, that is. It's cold, machine-like.

There is a song from their previous album "Andromeda Unchained". Their sound hasn't changed a lot on "The Detached", so that is what's to be expected. It sums it up the band's sound very well. Catchy and addictive chorus with a heavy and metal sound everywhere else."

"A friend from PA recommended these guys to me and this album does NOT disappoint...Its very Pagans Mind like at times but overall the bands sound is still quite unique....A very, very good album..I can't wait to get the rest of their stuff now! The concept is awesome and this singer rocks
