You'll find no rap metal or nu metal on We've Come for You All--just Anthrax's inimitable thrash-metal melded with contemporary melodies, dynamics, and booming, arena-worthy production. Two way-cool guests--Roger Daltrey and Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell--are under-utilized on their respective songs, but with machine-gun, heart-pounding double-bass drums and vocalist John Bush's convincing snarl, it hardly matters. Bush, who has been in Anthrax since the early '90s, has been part of much of the group's best and most mature (if not most commercially successful) material. The dynamic "Superhero" is a winner, as is the radio-ready, not-too-heavy "Safe Home." "Nobody Knows Anything" and "Strap It On" are the best of the heaviest entries. Effective acoustic moments, Scott Ian's guitar work, smart lyrics, and a 7-minute-plus title track that never drags prove that Anthrax may not be metal du jour, but they're consistently superior. --Katherine Turman

CD Reviews

Anthrax Has Come For Us All!!!
Matthew Heath | Plover, WI U.S.A. | 03/11/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This cd is way too good to wait any longer to get!! I bought this Japanese Version for the two extra tracks. It was well worth it if you are a true Anthrax fan. I have waited so long for this cd to come out. I have been a fan of theirs ever since Among the Living came out. I was only five!! I have my brothers to thank for that. Anyways, this cd is in true greatness just like any of the other three cd's that they have released with singer "John Bush". The intro is really cool and then it goes into the song "What Doesn't Die". That song just explodes right away. Charlie's double bass is going crazy, his feet must have been tired just doing the drumming for that song alone. I have no complaints about that cd, except for the track "Crash". It is just some weird noises and Frank Bello like mumbling for 57 seconds. It's pretty pointless, but don't let that bother you at all. The rest of the cd is total greatness. The bonus tracks are an Acoustic Version of the song "Safe Home" and a cover of the Ramones' song "We're A Happy Family". The song is very good and should have been included on the Ramones tribute cd with the same name. So, in case you haven't figured it out by now, you need to buy this version of the cd. Your money will be well spent!! Hope to see Anthrax on tour whenever they come to the United States.
HORNS UP!!!"

"I've always liked Anthrax, all of their work, but this album really slapped me in the face. "We've come for you all" is unbelievable. I have the Euro import, which is essentially useless in terms of the extra songs. The two extra tracks are "safe home (acoustic)" which you don't need and "we're a happy family" which you also don't need. They have collector's value I supposed and the version I got was a digipak with an interesting way of having the cover fold out but all these things are not necessary considering the price it will cost you. The domestic version makes more sense.Other than the bonus tracks, there is absolutely no filler. Every song rocks and hard. Charlie Benante has busted out the double kick drums again and it's not just for show. The drumming, for the most part, is back on par with what Anthrax fans know it is capable of being. The drumming is one area that has been noticeably improved since precious efforts. With the addition of Rob Caggiano on lead guitar the guitar work is once again a featured part of the songs. Rob is by far the best lead player that Anthrax has had. Scott Ian and Rob did a good job at combining a heavy music with enough groove, precision, and timing to bust a Swiss made watch. Rob is also said to be the one who inspired Charlie (Anthrax's pricinple song writer) to put the horns back on his head and write some serious metal. Well Rob, mission accomplished.John Bush has also stepped up his efforts in the vocal department as well. The melodies on this album are the best Anthrax has had and they suit the songs perfectly. John exudes confidence, conviction and emotion like Anthrax has never been able to do before. The song writing has also been raised to a whole other level. The melodies and guitars are meaner yet more apatising to the ear than ever. The improved song writing, greater attention to detail, superior musicianship, and added effort and emotion have made this a classic album of 2003. There is an obvious increased focus to the production as well. It seems that they were just more focussed in all aspects of this recording.Regardless of how many copies this album sells, it is a classic in my mind. It ranks up there with Among the Living and Persistence of Time and this album is so far my favorite album this year. It has been on repeat since I bought it and it just keeps getting better. Don't expect Joe Belladonna vocals from John Bush but expect some classic metal from a classic yet refreshingly aggressive metal band. Stand outs - "What doesn't die", "Superhero", "Safe Home", "Refuse to be denied"I recommend you buy it as soon as possible but maybe wait for the domestic version. May 6, 2003."

"In my opinion, volume 8 was alright, but FAR from their best, and this one kicks the ... of that one. I was definetely surprised when i heard this, it is all truly great material. I like every song off of it."
