"The concept of a women reciting her poetry, backed by a small division of progressive rock musicans may sound a little dated, but here, it sounds fresh as a daisy.
Annette Peacock is a poet and a great singer. At times on this album, she will read her work in a very matter-of-fact way, then raise her fine alto voice like a trumpet. Her singing is always clean and powerful and never pretentious.
Her band is composed of art-rock and jazz session pros. But the music is straight-forward, so not to distract from the lyrics, and at times rocks at full tilt. The playing is sharp and lean. You really have to love it when these types of guys play more stripped down music. They can add a lot of spices lesser musicians can't.
All around great music. I would reccomended this to anyone who likes any kind of music beyond radio playlists."
