This Ariodante production from Poissy, Île-de-France in 1997 was the first collaboration on disc between Anne Sofie von Otter and Marc Minkowski. Enthusiastically acclaimed by critics and customers, it led to further Handel productions: Hercules, also in Poissy, in 2000, and Giulio Cesare, recorded live at Konzerthaus, Vienna in 2002.
All three recordings with von Otter, Minkowski, Magdalena Koz na, Marijana Mijanovi , Ewa Podles and many others on the cast list, are considered musical touchstones within the field of Händel operas.
