"Another long-awaited release from the late Anna Moffo. This 2 cds set of extended exerpts from Massenet's Manon and Puccini's Manon Lescaut was originally recorded in 1963 when Moffo's voice was at its loveliest. She is absolutely delightful in both Manon, especially Massenet, and makes one regrets she did not record it complete. She is well partnered by Giuseppe di Stefano (Massenet) and Flaviano Labo (Puccini) as des Grieux. Robert Kerns is a fine Lescaut in both versions.
As a fill-up on the second cd, we have love duets from her complete recordings of La Traviata and La Boheme with Richard Tucker, Madama Butterfly with Cesare Valletti, and Lucia di Lammermoor with Carlo Bergonzi. A vocal delight all the way !
Now if only her 1962 Verdi recital could be released on cd !!!
