Open your heart...
FAZ | Indonesia | 03/17/2007

"Although this may not be Anggun's best work (in fact, this is her most underrated and unknown one, I suppose), it is still good.

It's Anggun's dip into dance/electronica pop scene, which is still great and still shows Anggun's distinctiveness.

As it was made as a soundtrack, not as Anggun's album, I should credit this album as being one of the best soundtrack albums ever!

Here are 9 songs mostly written and produced by Danish songwriters/producers Jesper Winge Leisner and Niels Brinck. Also, 3 songs ("Open Your Heart", "The End of The Story" and "Pray") also feature Anggun's songwriting.

The transition between songs works really well, making the entire album sound very well-produced and coherent.

The variety of sounds isn't very apparent here. However, towards the end of the album, "I Wanna Hurt You" offers itself as a club anthem while "Naked Sleep" closes the album with its sweet, piano-accompanied ballad.

Indeed, Open Hearts kind of reminds me of Everything But The Girl's work and even Bjork's, but Anggun, nevertheless, still shines here and what counts is that this is a VERY ENJOYABLE album, that surely lends its light-hearted-ness to those hearts in love..

Enjoy!

"Some varied styles, from just piano and voice, to EBTG style guitar and voice to some more highly produced hip hop beats behind pleasant hooky music. Does remind me of EBTG."

"Not her best but of course not hers it is a soundtrack. She is the best singer in the world today and combined with her beauty, grace and power she is the Muhammad Ali of singers! Did I hear someone say the best ever?"
