Smokin' salsa and son from a sadly underrated master sonero.

"Angel Canales was and remains an enigmatic and controversial figuire in 1970s salsa. He was very flashy, flamboyant and outrageous on stage but was also a tireless fighter for artists' rights. Rumour has it that he became so disillusioned with the music industry that he threw all of his music into the ocean (allegedly). This album was one of his best releases and showcases his formidable improvisational skills. The only track worth skipping on this otherwise superb album is his truly mediocre cover of the classic bolero "La Hiedra" (Canales was a great sonero but not a good bolero singer). Originally released in 1975 and produced by Joe Cain."
