"This was a surprising find! When I first heard "Little Red Boat" I thought Angel was an interesting artist...but one with a musical style too close to Folk music for my taste.Yet, when I saw her perform on television, she quickly proved me wrong! Among my favorites is "Anyway", Angels empowering response to an impending breakup, along with the innocently sexy and flirtatious "Hey You." One last pearl is the mournful ballad, "Not Here"....perfect for those times when one must embrace the sorrow in order to overcome it. This is a woderful cd by an artist with an endearing voice."
My little red boat with a different float !

"The Angel Grant CD is excellent, really mellow and full of wonderful ballets. However, I was disappointed to find out that the radio version of "My little red boat" the reason I purchased the CD is not the same version on the CD. The version on the CD is much slower and doesn't have the flare of the radio version.
Overall, it was a good buy but with a little disappointment."
Truly an Angel

"In a music world that lacks originality and substance, Angel Grant's debut CD produced by hitsmakers, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis stands out. As is usually the case, only one song, Lil' Red Boat received any airplay at all. I loved that song and shortly after hearing it, I had the opportunity of seeing Angel perform a "mini-concert" on BET. I was at the record store the next morning to purchase the CD. This is a truly remarkable CD. Credit goes to Jam and Lewis, for being willing to devote their time and energy to a new artist who doesn't have the mainstream style, and will probably get considerable less airplay than others they have produced; most notably Janet Jackson. As much as I like Lil' Red Boat, my favorite cut is Knockin', a cute little song about a guy who is quite pleasing to the eye, but has an IQ in negative numbers. I listen to this song over and over again. Other favorites are Deeper, Anyway, and Whenever You Cry. The truth of the matter is every cut on the CD is a favorite. For those persons who are usually only exposed to top 40, mainstream music, my advise is try Angel, you'll like her."

"It's been a long wait for such a shimmering album as Angel Carter's. Without any of the in-your-face attitude to turn you off, this album is a true delight with Angel's soothing vocals and heartfelt songs. Reminiscent of Dee Dee Wilde and perhaps Whitney Houston on her first album before she became too heavy, Angel's debut is ideal for those who like their grooves smooth, soothing and soul-stirring."
