"A must for lovers of Brazilian music. This is a fine example of the care and taste that has become a hallmark for Chesky records. What could be just another collection of Bossa Nova is instead a fresh, updated, and yet faithful, revisitation of a classic form. The well known Garota de Ipanema (The Girl from Ipanema) takes on an especially sophisticated air with the silky and sparse arrangement that augments Caram's seductive style. Rather than the morning-jaunt feel of the hit from the sixties, here the tempo is slowed to one more reminiscent of the languid late afternoon return from the beach into the dense blocks crowding the Ipanema shore, skin glowing, awakening for the evening. From this dream state to the upbeat and playful O Pato, this CD covers the Bossa Nova spectrum with admirable intelligence. Impeccable musicianship throughout, some of the finest recording technology on the planet, Jobim classics, Ana Caram's wonderfully luxuriant voice -- what more could you ask for? Perhaps to be listening to it live, caiperinha in hand, tongitsas in view, sun going down over Leblon ....But that's another story!"
A Beautiful Collection of Songs

"Ana Caram has a beautiful voice and does a wonderful job of interpreting the songs of Antonio Carlos Jobim, who was Brazil's greatest composer. Most of the songs on this CD were written by Jobim and they are lush and sensual. Before I purchased this CD, I had never heard of Ana Caram (I was familiar with Astrud Gilberto and Elis Regina, two of Brazil's most famous singers). Now I know of another great singer! This CD is a "sure thing.""
A Masterpiece

"This CD is a masterpiece by any standards, 11 of the 12 tracks are fabulous, I was so impressed by this CD I then purchased Rio After Dark which was terrible it had only 1 good song. My Brazilian song collection is enormous, and believe me when I tell you, you will not find a better collection than the tracks on this awesome CD. PS If you had to know, song #4 was the only bummer."

"This is a fantastic CD; it includes some of the best known Bossa Nova titles and its Brazilian Jazz approach is outstanding.
Ana's voice and interpretations are right on the money.
If you like either/or Brazilian Jazz and Bossa Nova, this one's for you."
