"I am pretty new to Christian music. I had never heard of Amy Grant until "Heart in Motion". I've never listened to Christian music. 6 months ago, I decided to buy one of her earlier albums. After listening to it ("Age to Age"), I decided to buy another...and another...and another.... You get the picture. I couldn't get enough of this wonderful artist! Then I bought the collection because I still hadn't purchased her entire discography yet but was anxious to hear other songs that I hadn't heard yet. This collection is wonderful! It's a nice mixture of upbeat/rock songs and slow touching ballads. Amy's whole style is so accessible to all listeners. I was pleasingly surprised at the end with the "Ageless Medley" where she re-records her hits and incorprates them all in one spectacular song! Amazing album!"
A review of a wonderful CD

"I just want to say that this is a marvelous CD. My family had some old Amy Grant tapes (Age to Age and Unguarded), and that I will best review this by giving an overview of each song in turn.Stay For Awhile: I fell in love with this song. It's got a bit of heavy rock beat, but it's very enjoyable.Love Can Do: While I did not enjoy this particular song, mainly because of the lyrics, if you enjoy heavy rock, you'll enjoy this.Find A Way: Very, very, nice. This song being from the album Unguarded, it was one of the first I was introduced to.Everywhere I Go: This song is also from Unguarded. If I could play piano, I would love to be able to play this.....But, I'll settle for singing it. A very catchy tune.Angels: It starts out tell a story from the book of Acts, about Peter, when he was imprisoned and the angel came to free him. It then leads to everyday life. The message preached in this is subtle, but makes a point.Thy Word: Based on the verse from Psalm 119, "Thy Word is a Lamp to my feet, and a Light to my path," this is a wonderful, and enjoyable, song.Emmanuel: A Christmas song. Fun to listen to, even if it isn't December.Where Do You Hide Your Heart: A rock beat. Still, it is a nice song, and falls under a slightly romantic category.Sing Your Praise To The Lord: While I'm not entirely fond of rock'n'roll type songs, this will catch any Amy Grant lover's eye! Or ear, for that matter. In A Little While: What can I say? A rock'n'roll song, but a rock'n'roll song. One of Amy Grant's, in my opinion, best songs.El Shaddai: To those of you who don't know Hebrew, "El Shaddai" means "God Almighty". The song was origially written by Michael Card, but Amy Grant gives it a certain something that he can't. And not all the lyrics are in Hebrew. I Have Decided: Wonderful. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. It's definately something you'll want to listen to if you're a recent convert to Christianity. And even if you aren't, listen to it anyway.Too Late: Not my favorite, but enjoyable just the same. If, like me, you enjoy acting, this is a fun song to dance to, sing, and act out the lyrics.I'm Gonna Fly: I love this song! One of my absolute favorites. It starts out slow, then goes fast, then gets slow again. All I Ever Have To Be: Can I just say humble? To actually ever be like what the song describes, you'd have to be...well, Jesus. Aside from that, it's a good example, and a great song.Father's Eyes: I'm a great fan of this song, too. It's very enjoyable, easy to sing along to....I love it!Ageless Medly: A combination of seven of the songs on this CD, and one other, this song alone gives you many enjoyable moments. Very, very, nice.My only complaint with this CD is that it didn't come with a lyrics booklet. I suggest buying this, it will be worth it!"
The Collection

"The title to this album really says it all. It is a beautifully arranged 'collection' of some of Amy Grant greatest songs. With such songs as'El Shaddi', 'Sing Your Praise to the Lord', 'I Have Decided', and 'Father's Eyes', this album combines her moving and touching songs with some of the most uplifting praise songs ever to be heard. She also added two previously unreleased songs ('Stay for a While', and 'Love Can Do'), along with a very nice medaly ('Ageless').
Even after almost 16 years, I recommend this album to anyone new to Christain music, or anyone who just wants to hear some of the best Christain pop and rock that is out there."

"I'm not a huge fan of Amy Grant's current offerings. What she sang early in her career, while she was still primarily a Christian pop-worship singer, ranks as her best and most powerful work. The Michael Card cover, "El Shaddai" might be one of the best songs in Christian music in the last 25 years. She carefully places the emotion of each Hebrew name of God into the air, and compells the listener to ask for more. "Thy Word" is a perfect companion song, based on a well-known passage of Psalms. She picks up the pace with the keyboard-heavy "Emmanuel," again, providing different names of God.There is more. "Sing Your Praise to the Lord" is upbeat, charged with the vitality of an encouraged faith. In almost the mode of an old gospel tune, she belts, "I Have Decided" with anthem-like power."Ageless Medley" recognizes old favorite songs, like "Old Man's Rubble"The triumphment "Angels" "angels watching over me..." needs a little volume. Crank it up."Father's Eyes" is a slower, but passion-packed song. It has not aged well as her other songs. The meaning is strong, and deserves to be remade.Noticeably missing is her "Create in Me" (a clean heart). Based on Psalm 51, it is one of her stringest, most biblical songs. It should be on her best of collection.I fully recommend "Collection" by Amy Grant...."

"Amy Grant's "Collection" has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My older sisters loved her music when I was little, and they've passed that love on to me. Amy's albums have always been intelligent and hummable; this "Collection" just happens to have more of her most outstanding songs than any other. Indeed, it's stuffed to the gills with inspirational lyrics and lovely melodies. Every song is so much fun to sing along to, and they just get better with age, like a shoe that conforms to your foot and keeps getting more and more comfortable (unlike a shoe, though, this album will never wear out!). This is an absolute essential for any Amy Grant fan, and a marvelous addition to anyone's music collection."
