CD Reviews

A great fantastically sounding blues EP
m_v | Bern, Switzerland | 12/02/2003

"The first time I went to this French audiophile hardware shop with this record and put it in a 50000 Euro system, everyone and his colleague just stopped working and hurried to the auditorium.
Cecil Mc Bee was playing his double bass at the beginning of the Jailhouse Blues.
No one could say anything.
At this time, I was between the rock, the jazz, but also the blues and classical music.
This album is very academic : they all perfectly perform these "standards" which original versions I never heard, so, maybe it was flawed, but otherwise listening to these is an incredibly hot experience for the audiophile."
An underground classic!!!!!!!!!!!!AAAAAAAAAAAA+++++++++++

"It's funy to say that this is and "Underground Classic" given how long Amina Claudine Myers has been playing piano and Organ but her career has been one that has had some true avante garde playing on labels like Black Saint.And there is a touch of that talent skill to produce GOOD outside music this is straight ahead reording.But this is truly a classic LP/CD that hits the soul.With Bessie Smith Clasics like "Wasted Life Blues","No Good Dirty Blues","Jailhouse Blues",and "It Makes My Love Come Down" Myers on voice,piano and organ supported by aces Cecil McBee on Bass and Jimmy Lovelace on drums make this a true classic that deserves much wider onwership.Different than any of her other LP's it truly is the soul of what founded black poular music when the line of blues,jazz,and popular music were not as defined as they beacme.Buy it you won't regret this soulful masterpiece.Check out Jazz Foundation Of America and do what you can in these hard times.

Peace

Chazz"
