CD ReviewsAmanda is chasing the sky - and very close to reaching it! PlanetStar | 08/30/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "The first time I heard Amanda Stott's song, Homeless Heart, I decided I loved her, and couldn't wait to hear more from her. That wish was soon granted when I saw her open for Kalan Porter, and her last song (a hidden track on her album!) made me break out in tears. It wasn't just the beauty of the song though - it was also the power in her sweet flawless voice and, even though I wasn't very close to the stage, the fact that even from a distance it was obvious that she loved her art and was extrememly passionate about it. Just days after the concert I bought the CD. I recently saw her again and I will never forget how the songs sounded exactly like they do recorded, except more magical, or the way she looked sitting at the piano with her eyes closed, purely absorbed in the music. This is obviously a girl who loves what she does and, whatever happens in her musical career, will never stop making music. She is, and should be, an inspiration to many young girls, because her songs are totally clean and pure, she is passionate and driven, and dresses and acts in a way every parent in the world can approve of. Her songs are all solid and if you're in a bad mood, you can't help but feel better after a long session with this CD. Some of my personal favorites are the hidden track which talks about her personal faith, and Waiting for my Star to Far, which wonders whether there is someone out there for her and if it's right to be waiting for them. My Real Life brings her back to her roots of singing with just a piano and captures perfectly all her musical talents - singing, writing and playing piano. The album title Chasing the Sky comes from the song Undeniably Real which is a bright, fun, inspiring song. Through the whole album, piano is dominant, which proves that Amanda is not willing to compromise herself for anything. She is a naturally talented girl following her dreams, and if Amanda keeps heading in the same direction she will be an extremely successful girl for many years to come." Check it out! J. M. Zuurbier | Canada | 06/04/2005 (4 out of 5 stars) "Amanda Stott hails from Canada. She first hit the country music scene in the early 00's. Now she's back and she's grown up. She abandones the country sound for a more rock/pop/AC sound. The first single is the moving ballad "Homeless Heart". "Paper Rain" has hit written all over it. Many of the songs are ballads and carry a theme of c'est la vie and to live life to the fullest. This is evident on songs like "Maybe Tomorrow", "Song on the Radio" and "Waiting for my Star to Fall". Overall a wonderful album from a talented singer I'm sure we will be seeing more of!" Amanda Stott will go far Cynthia Greer | London, Ontario | 03/09/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "I picked up this CD today after hearing Amanda Stott open for Kalan Porter. Everyone fell in love with her during her show, she has a gorgeous voice and a refreshingly positive collection of songs. There are no moody love songs or hateful songs, and the combination of her piano melodies and meaningful lyrics will keep this CD in your CD player for quite a while. Support Canadian artists! Songs such as My Real Life, Paper Rain and Homeless Heart are worth buying the CD for in themselves... and songs such as Getting There, She'll Get Over It, Song on the Radio and Undeniably Real are fun and addictive. This girl has a fantastic voice, and I expect that a lot of her songs will be released to be top hits very soon. If you like the previews available on her website, get the CD because they rest of the music is just as wonderful. You wont regret it!" |
