CD Reviews

You must discover Alzo. Sophisticated, beautiful arangements

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I can only vouch for Alzo's original release "Alzo", a solo album. Back in 1970 Hartford CT there was a small New England (but hip) record chain called "Integrity in Music" that was just that. They ran a radio ad about that hard to find but gotta have folk album "Alzo". It was hard to find anyone who knew much about him. His ballads, and evocative all-original songs, exquisite 12 string quitar, piano and vocals surpassed anything I'd ever heard, and I was a big fan of Batdorf & Rodney, Aztec Two-Step, Buffalo Springfield, Tony Jo White. Perhaps someday someone will release a CD of the original "Alzo" solo. The duo album "Alzo & Udine" was good, but not up to the stellar solo album. His full name is Alzo Fronte, his best tunes are "Looks Like Rain", "You know me, I know you". I'd play it in the car and passengers would just stop talking and say "fantastic, who is that?". Now if anyone knows about an even more obscure genius, Dick Trakey and his album "Riverman", well life on planet Earth would be complete. Would like to hear from ..............."

"I was a fan and neighbor to Alzo for many years. I loved his music since I saw him live in 1973. Unfortunately Alzo passed away on February 2, 2004 after suffering a heart attack. He will be missed."
