CD ReviewsMixed bag OutRider | Brisbane Australia | 05/12/2005 (3 out of 5 stars) "It is shame, yet understandable, that Alquin's initial studio albums "Mountain Queen" and "Marks" ( both classics) appear to be unavailable on Amazon at the moment. Instead we are presented with several compilations. You need to know that this great prog rock band soon lost their roots and the follow-up studio releases of "No one can wait forever" and "Best kept secret" morphed into rather bland and uninteresting pop/rock (my opinion). Therefore, any complition which seeks to showcase all four of the band's albums together is going to lack consistancy. " Real music from the 70's Bob | Santa Barbara, CA United States | 04/18/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "It was 1973, I lived in Holland, had friends in Delft and remember Alquin as group of the same caliber as WAR and Supertramp. No drum machines, just nice music.
The best song on this album is the instrumental Soft-Eyed Woman. It has everything what a good song should have: sensitive beat, soft guitar, hard guitar, flute, bass. Listen to this song and you will understand Alquin." |
