"Finding "Flame" on this album is an excellent surprise, like the first time I heard Depeche Mode's "Somebody to love", but "Flame" puts DM to shame. It will make you wish they did more songs in this style.



Speaking of wishes, both versions of this album's "Wishful Thinking" are fast-tempo masterpieces.



The other song that has two versions on this album is "Monkey on the Moon", and gladly so since both are excellent. This song in many ways reminds me of Corsten's Remix of Apoptygmia Berzerk's "Kathy's Song", truly excellent!"

"Wow! One (or more) of the members of Alphaville must have gotten their butt(s) kicked REALLY hard by a bunch of angry fans after the last two abominations that they tried to pass off!!! Quite frankly, I don't know WHAT they were thinking when they came out with that Muzak. But I guess a kick in the butt was just what the doctor ordered. Because when you listen to this CD, you quickly forget everything that happened between 1989 and 1995. I guess you might call this CD a return to their roots of sorts - 90's techno style. And this works quite well. So if you liked Alphaville in the past and were as disgusted as I was with the previous two albums, you might like this one."

Very Upbeat album!!

"This is a surprise for me as I thought Alphaville was one of those 80s bands that sounded great, but couldn't adapt to the change. But now I am true fan as I am following their status and it appears they are still around and producing more music in Europe.



The album begins with some so-so songs, but then it soars as each song lifts you up and makes you sing along.

This is how I rank the songs:

1. Point of Know Return (ambiance sounding, but really good)

2. Spirit of the Age (dance with great chorus)

3. Control (fast dance song)

4. Flame (actually a slow song)

5. Guardian Angel (dance song)

6. Wishful Thinking (know I heard in some clubs)

7. Soul Messiah (sounds like a melody)

8. Dangerous Places (very 90s)



The last couple of songs are not my taste and are remixes to earlier songs which are not that great.



Overall, this album should show how Alphaville survived the 90s and should rank next to the other "80s bands" like Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, and Erasure."
