"Allmans fans, don't fall for this! This is NOT anything close to a decent overview! Disc one is okay, but it misses out on several key tracks like Ramblin' Man, Melissa, In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, It's Not My Cross to Bear, Wasted Words, Don't Keep Me Wonderin', Blue Sky, One Way Out... I was surprised they were kind enough to include Whippin' Post. It's like they took twelve random well-known Allman Brothers songs and stuck them on a compilation, but even then they missed the group's biggest hit, Ramblin' Man. Oh, and their excellent '90s comeback albums were ignored completely, but that's no big surprise.
Then Disc 2 is just stupid. Okay, I like the Enlightened Rogues album. If you ask me, it's one of their more underrated. But the whole thing, essential? Are we implying that Blind Love is essential? That Need Your Love So Bad is essential? That Sail Away is essential? Again, that's a good album, but the only "essential" songs on it are Crazy Love, Can't Take it With You and Pegasus - though Try it One More Time and Just Ain't Easy are pretty good too.
There really should be a limit on Allman Brothers compilations, because there are just too many on the market. And most of them are slipshod and poorly made. Here's one."
