"I once heard someone accurately describe Aaliyah as half Sade and half Janet Jackson. Like Sade, Liyah had an air of mystery. She was approachable yet private. Like Janet, she married her sweet tone and limited range to hard edged urban beats. Plus the girl could dance and entertain like nobody's business while pushing the envelope with every album.
Ultimate Aaliyah compiles most of her greatest hits on the first disc and Timbaland collaborations and soundtrack singles on the second. Age Ain't Nothing But A Number and Journey to the Past are omitted, but it's a small glitch. More Than A Woman shows up in a remixed form and I wish the same had been done with At Your Best (You Are Love). I love the original, but the video version has some bounce to it and not to mention it's rare. The third disc features an extended version of Aaliyah's Behind The Music and a photo gallery.
Yet again this retrospective was made available only in the UK where it suffered underpromotion and poor sales. A US release is just what we need."
