"The King of ShockRock makes his triumphant return in the heavy CD Brutal Planet. The songs are hard rocking and powerful, with striking social comments that one doesn't hear from your average rock musician.(Especially "Blow Me a Kiss" and "Wicked Young Man") "Its The Little Things" combines fast-paced music with Cooper's fine sense of irony; he quotes two of his more notable past hits within the lyrics. "Pick Up The Bones" has both haunting music and classic Cooper undertones. The new ballad, "Take It Like A Woman" is similar to his previous masterpiece "Only Women Bleed." The weakest cuts are "Eat Some More" (a not-so-subtle commentary on conspicuous consumption) and "Pessimystic", a hard to listen to song incorporating a chorus of "Shut up shut up shut up" all sung in a minor key. Perhaps the best track on the whole CD is the bonus track "Can't Sleep, The Clowns Will Eat Me." A welcome return to tongue-in-cheek monster-in-the-closet Alice, and decidedly reminiscent of his string of "Steven songs," this song alone makes the CD worth it. Although BP is not quite the masterpiece of Cooper's earlier days, it is a very close second. I highly recommend it for both the new cooper fans, and the classic fans as well."
