This soundtrack is one of Silvestri's best to date. It is full of emotion, action, and wonderful ochestral themes. From the asian flutes from the movie's Chinese scenes, to the techno beats of the action sequences, to the melodic melancholy of the BEST track "Pandora's Box," this CD is worth every penny.
In my opinion, it trumps even the latter two Lord of the Rings scores (both of which only shone on the Rohirrim tracks; Fellowship was a different story).
No matter what your qualms are regarding the Lara Croft franchise, or the films, this score is a RARE GEM! Nab it if you see it! We searched through TWELVE STORES to finally nab it at a Border's booksellers (the third we searched in Chicago)."
Silvestri Strikes Again

"My first impression upon listening to this CD was that it didn't sound like Alan Silvestri at all. The percussion and guitar in particular make certain cues sound more like Hans Zimmer's Media Ventures groupies than the Alan Silvestri I'm used to (not to say that that's a bad thing). However, once the action really gets going, the Silvestri-esque horns, strings and vocals come through in spades, giving us some high-octane themes similar to Mr. Silvestri's other epic projects. This by far is the best commercial Alan Silvestri release since the Mummy Returns, reminding us all why he's one of the best in the business. With a perfect blend of modern percussion, hard-hitting brass, and a variety of ethnic instruments, Silvestri once again displays his versatility with 60 minutes of pulse-pounding action. Whether you liked the movie, didn't like the movie, or never even saw the movie (such as the case with me), you won't be disappointed with Alan Silvestri's latest masterpiece."
Awesome! Silvestri gives his best!

"I got this CD today, and I didn't listen to it very much yet, although I know that I'm gonna listen to it for a long, long time! Alan Silvestri gave us the best soundtrack he could. The music is really great. You should listen to it after watching the movie - the memories from the Cradle will come to you faster than you could imagine. This score really gives you the climat of Tomb Raider. Your money won't be wasted!"

"One of the musical themes in both Tomb Raiders is the odd 'buzz-buzz whistling' sounds referred to by one of the reviewers..
this is not an instrument... it's 'throat music' from Tuva. (Morth of China) made by the human voice. for more of that check 'Yat Kha - Dalai Beldiri' music from Tuva."

"A good soundtrack... just as good as the dvd with a home theatre system.... but it's not all there..
where's the music from "Lab Scene" ? a 'Terminator' style piece that was probably the most exciting bit of music in the movie.... it's listed on the dvd...as it was written specially for the movie..... but it's not on the soundtrack."
