The SCORE to Night at the Museum by Alan Silvestri.

"I was a bit shocked to read the review by "Fabian Hassel". This guy obviously doesn't know what a score is. Those of you who are movie buffs know that Alan Silvestri needs no introduction. The composer of Forrest Gump, the Back to the Future Trilogy, The Abyss, Predator, and The Mummy Returns, he is one of the finest film composers in the industry today. His latest work, Night at the Museum, required Alan to write pieces that would invoke a sense of wonder and adventure; he did so and the results couldn't be better. The main theme, heard in "Sunrise" and "Study Up on History" is absolutely SUPERB! If you want a great Silvestri score with a full orchestra then you won't be disappointed. However if you want a 1970's disco-fest, then this is not the CD to buy.....wait until they make a "music inspired by the film" CD or something."
Where's the beef?

"Before buying this, I read the Amazon reviewer's remarks and doubted their veracity. I generally love Alan Silvestri's music - even stuff like THE PARENT TRAP, FATHER OF THE BRIDE and MOUSE HUNT, but she's right on regarding this one. There just isn't anything here to compare with his better efforts. I imagine these little clips work well in the film, but, having listened through the CD 10-12 times, I can't honestly say that any of the 30+ tracks has made much of an impression on me. The second of the two main themes is a near carbon copy of the "sail away" bit of "Orinoco Flow" by Enya. Given AS's immense talent, this one's a disappointment. If you're a fan, however, I suppose I should advise you to give it a try and decide for yourself."
Wonderous, "epic" score for a decent film

"I agree with Maelstrom that this score captures the wonder of the film. "Wonder" is the key. Almost a score deserving of some epic film, it's almost out of place it is so good as Night At The Museum is primarily a comedy-fantasy. I liked the movie a lot (my kids loved it) but I loved the music more. As a big fan of great movie score composers (other Silverstri, Horner, Shore, Williams, Goldsmith, etc.), this one is another great component to my collection and anyone who loves movie scores will love this one."

"I an not familiar with much of Silvestri's work, but his job on Night at the Museum was wonderful. My favorite tracks are 1, "Night at the Museum", 29, "Stage Coach", and 34, "Heroes Return". I recommend this soundtrack to any collector or fan of the film."
