"I grew up in France (3 - 17) and there never was any good or real Rock music. There was Johnny Halliday if you could stomach him, I couldn't. Now twenty or so years after leaving I discover Alain Bashung, not only that I discover he's been around for more than twenty years. I couldn't believe it, I always contended that French could never be language that could sincerely express Rock music. It was too soft. Alain has proved me wrong, his lyrics have to be in the top ranks of Rock in any language, and the music I can't get enough of. Since I got my first CD "Compilation", a gift from my brother who still lives in France, I have bought two more and listen to nothing but him and "les Rita" (another wonderful French band). He is always fresh no matter how many times I listen to him. If you understand French and love Rock get this CD. I'll never be able to think about France the same way again."

"This collection gathers material from French rock pioneer Alain Bashung that was recorded in the late 1970s and early 1980s, recorded for the Philips label."
