CD Reviews

Superb gospel music from Al Green
Robert Rich | Los Angeles, CA United States | 03/10/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"R&B legend Al Green also recorded some classic gospel music. This CD contains two of his best gospel albums. The first album on this CD, called Precious Lord, is one of my all-time favorite albums, for its spectacular joy, and truly uplifting music. Al Green is in a fantastic mood throughout the Precious Lord album, and the music is melodic and expertly performed. I'll Rise Again, the second album on this CD, also features some great music, especially: the cathartic and beautiful song Ocean Blue, the heartfelt Jesus is Coming (Back Again), and the genuinely moving I Close My Eyes and Smile. Al Green honors the Messiah Jesus with his sincere performances on both these albums."
The Rev. doing it the right way

"I've been a Al Green fan since I was 4 (not to make Rev. Feel old) Personally I think he sings gospel better than he does secular music. But His voice is timeless and ageless he will always be number 1 in my book and this album proves it. You can't help but listen as Al brings to you the very core of his heart, where it needs to be, in gospel music."
