"I enjoy listening to a wide variety of music, but had never had any exposure to Cajun music (unless you count Cajun tunes performed by pop or country artists like Paul Simon and Mary Chapin Carpenter).I recently became friends with a man from Cajun Country. He allowed me to borrow a handful of his CD's so I could see what I liked before I bought anything. He included CD's by some of the earliest groups to popularize Cajun Music, some of the most recognized Cajun groups, and a handful of his favorite groups. It also included a wide variety of styles within the genre, including country, rock, folk, and blues.Of the 15 or so CD's that he lent me, this has become my favorite. This CD contains some of the best original compositions that I have heard in a long time. The gems of this album are the instrumental pieces. "Waltz of the North and South" is my favorite. When I play this album in my car on my way to work, I will often skip ahead or repeat this song. "The Bayou Fiddle Waltz" is another song that displays the skill of these two great performers, while "Let's Dance" will get your toes tapping. There are also some beautiful ballads, a love song ("It Is You I Adore"), and a lullaby ("Fais Do-Do"). The only song that seems out of place is the Harmonica Waltz. One other advantage of this album over some of the other albums that I listened to is that I can actually understand most of the French. Overall this is a very good album and at times it is exceptional."
