CD ReviewsDrum and Bass is alive and well and ready to move you. ravecrusader | 02/13/2001 (4 out of 5 stars) "If you have never heard a `mixed live' CD before you might not know what you are in for. In this series you get to hear all the reactions and excitement of the crowd. That may not seem that important to you but to a good DJ is all that matters. A great DJ has paramount concern about the state of the crowd. If they are entertained than the DJ is doing something right. If people are not enjoying the experience than the DJ will hear about it later, believe me. In short, this format gives you a fuller experience of what it is like to be there. I think that is pretty F'in cool!Moonshine Music's new series `Mixed Live' has already shown the talents of superstar DJs such as "DJ Micro" and "Keoki." For the latest installment of the `Mixed Live' they have chosen one of my favorite DJs. AK1200 has been a `drum and bass' style DJ for ten years now. He was there at the beginning of `drum and bass' and has had a profound affect on its development for the last decade. He was a first generation rave DJ in Florida and has the best the scene has to offer. In this mix he is paired with the vocal talents of MC Navigator. `Drum and Bass' is not a style that leans too much toward lyrical content simply because it is so hard to match. But the MC did a good job in keeping things going and making sure the crowd was loud and alive. It was quite an interesting mix.I am not sure what you will think of it but I enjoyed this mix all the way through. You may not agree with me so check it out for yourself. After all, what do I know?" Can we drown out the MC Josh | Mad-Town, USA | 02/13/2004 (3 out of 5 stars) "First off, after hearing MC Navs, MC Skills, i would never book this guy for a venue. The only reason I gave this cd a 3 is because of the supposed MCing. If not for that i would rate it about a 4.5 Once again AK 1200 comes through with some awsome track selection. Everytime i see this guy at the Planet of the drums tour he gets better and better. I feel bad AK 1200 basically gets drowned out by the horrid attemp to MC. But if your a true AK 1200 fan like i am you'll by this and just forget that MC navigator even on it." Can't understand all the dissappointment? gamemastery2k | Avon Lake, Ohio United States | 08/04/2002 (4 out of 5 stars) "I can't see why everyone is so down on this Cd. Trust me passer-byers this disc is not that bad. The only reason I give it 4.5 stars is because I have listened to Fully Automatic and got blown away by it. The only difference (if you liked Fully Automatic) is that they used an MC to try to get back to the level they have achieved. Listeners probably don't take to it because the MC bastes attitude all over the disc, however it still remains an up-beat dancable attitude and doesn't quite reach the ranks of rap. The only thing keeping it from a five star rating is that this Cd in my opinion starts off much stronger than any of the other AK1200 discs I have listened to but begins to falter about half way through. However keep in mind it doesn't trip too bad they retain thier sound throughout the disc. They simply take a step down from the incredible high that is immediatelly brought into the Cd.
Thanks" |
