Air Liquide goes house...sort of

"Wow, Air Liquide has made a CD for the clubs! As much as I like Air Liquide's cerebral approach to electronic music, their material can get a little abstract and inaccessible at times. On this disc, however, they seem to have made a concerted effort to dumb things down and play with more mainstream dance beats, with pretty catchy results. It's kinda like if Doestoyevsky tried to write a Harlequin romance novel... all the formulaic elements are there (house beats, disco strings, the guest hip hop vocalists, etc.) but the artist's genius and originality still manages to shine through. Definitely a worthwhile purchase; I also love the warning printed on the album cover that this CD contains cheezy house beats and disco strings! One gets the impression they're not taking this outing too seriously, but it works."
