I?ll try not to make this too convoluted, I don?t want you climbing the walls at 5 a.m. wondering what the meaning of this shit is hoping that you?ll receive some imaginary phone call from yours truly with some added insight, so hey, here goes...Except for some incredibly obscure comp tape appearances (just imagine what 20 years sitting in a closet will do to the likes of "This Tape Sucks", "Shed Your Pride", or "There is More", and that?ll give you an idea of why you never see these gems listed on eBay), the world would have never known of The Agitated. Then, along rolls 1983, and Tom Dark releases the ground-breaking "New Hope" comp LP. Groundbreaking, as in the hardcore version of Cleveland Confidential. Well, throw in that Stiff Records comp with the scratch-and-sniff cover because "The New Hope" covered Akron as well. Full of the obligatory pissed teen angst, the insane raw thrash contained on those grooves blew my mind. Why don?t I ever see this thing fetchin? big bids on eBay? With a line-up that included, among others, the Guns and The Dark (members later appeared in Knifedance and teen heartthrobs Step Sister, now recording for Smog Veil), Offbeats (also, Smog Veil heartthrobs, Tom "Tommy Hawk" Miller was also in the Agitated), Spike in Vain (members included pre-pubescent Prisonshakers and Scat-men), this is the kind of release that Pushead would have written about with some polysyllabic missive concerning ear-shattering, flesh ripping and bone-crushing. That being said, Agitated contributed 3 tracks to that platter. 3 fast thrash rippers also contained on this release along with 9 other studio cuts. The CD version of this release contains a couple live tracks you shouldn?t be without. I only saw the band perform live once--opening for the Circle Jerks on the Wild in the Streets tour at the Pop Shop. The band didn?t last very long, just 1 year. Just like the music they produced, short and sweet. All blood, sweat, and thrash.
