"The personnel... Jim O'Rourke (acoustic guitar), Henry Kaiser (acoustic guitar), Mari Kimura (violin), and John Oswald (alto sax). This cd is full of absolutely coherent and telepathic listening-driven improvisation. For people who aren't familiar with the acoustic guitar styles of people like Derek Bailey, Jim, and Henry, you will soon notice that you have never heard acoustic guitars sound like they do on this cd. This instrument is capable of alot more sounds than you thought it was!



The real purpose for buying this cd though should be to hear the level of musical interaction between Mari Kimura and John Oswald. CADMIUM is just a perfect display of spontaneous musical creativity! There is only one track on this cd that I would consider a "miss", and that is #2, YELLOW, SANGUINE, DARK BLUE & VIOLET. The playing just never comes together on that track. I really can't find anything at all to complain about on any other track.



I gave this cd 4 stars only because WIREFORKS, the cd with Henry Kaiser and Derek Bailey is a masterwork and is some of the best recorded playing by both men, and I do have to rate it higher than this cd, so I needed to save the 5 stars for WIREFORKS"
