Just when you think that every suburban teen is picking up a guitar to scream like the millions of other emo acts out there, out pops ACES HIGH with a classic rock sound that predates their diaper days. Even better, this is a group that not only recalls 70's FM rockers, but they could have fit right in that decade. In fact, rock legend, RONNIE JAMES DIO, formerly of DEEP PURPLE fame and currently touring with former members of BLACK SABBATH, has taken the band under his wings and listed ACES HIGH on his Friends List on his personal myspace.com page. This is an exciting, promising start to a very young band from Thousand Oaks, California. The band members, brothers A.J. (lead/rhythm guitars and lead vocals) and JOHN ANAGNOS (drums), MARK BORBAS (lead/rhythm and acoustic guitars and vocals) and MATT DILTZ (bass guitar, vocals) are proud of their first release with good reason. SHADES OF GREY debuted at #1 in the Power Pop category on the Australian site mp3.com.au. and remained at #1 for 12 weeks. It also won the title of Track of the Day and Track of the Week on garageband.com. IN YOUR EYES is #2 on the same site on the Heavy Rock chart. SHATTERED is holding on at #6 in the highly competitive category of Rock. Jeff Lee, president of Halo Guitars, contacted the band and has confirmed an endorsement deal with these emerging young artists. Aces High was nominated in 2007 for two Rock City News Rockies Awards at the legendary BB Kings, Universal Studios City Walk in the Best Alternative Band and Best Modern Rock Band categories. Winners were announced in December and Aces High won first place as Best Alternative Band! Adam Harrington of Whispering & Hollerin CD Reviews says, These lads are actually quite tuneful, delivering a collection of AOR-fueled numbers that showcase a new band on the rise. Kirby Raine of Shotgun Reviews said There is hope for the youth of America after all. Drummer, John Anagnos, appeared on the USA hit TV show MAD TV.
