"Ace & his soul are right there in every song I've ever heard him play.
His music only gets sweeter with time.
I am awed that he isn't on the to 10 charts.
You will never hear another Sax player who puts as much HEART & SOUL into his music.
He is a National Treasure!!"
It's Tuff finding the original....

"I'm writing this review partly illegitimately since I haven't heard the entire CD. But Ace Cannon is best known for his classic instrumental "Tuff," and having heard the sample clip at amazon.com, I can state confidently that this is NOT the original version. I know, because I still have the original single as released on 45 RPM, and this is not it. Not that this re-make is bad -- there's still that jaunty-but-cool organ accompaniment in the background, and that easy-strolling sax up front. But in the original, Cannon's sax has a blues-ier tone, and carefully bends certain notes that are played here in a more clipped, straightforward manner, robbing it of some of the "darker" tones Cannon had performed on vinyl. I can't honestly say where one can find the original version in CD format. I'm not sure it exists as of this writing since I haven't been able to sample other Cannon discs. So, tentatively, my advice to novices would be to buy this disc --- you'll probably like it. But if you're a purist, or a serious student of pop music history, you might owe it to yourself to track down the original 45."
