Stepping it up (within their own accomplishments)

"First off, i wish i could have gone 3.5 stars, so instead i rounded up.
I think the quality of their recordings sound SOOO good. the guitar tones, the perc sounds crisp and perfect.
Musicically, its just basically simple metal. I mean, im not bashing it or anything, its just that it lacks melody, but its still super heavy and sick.
the lyrics are pretty cool too. hes not really trying to be metal by talking about death all the time and killing people. its moreso his personal problems, which is pretty cool. i think we can all relate to what he talks about sometimes.
so yeah, theres my little cheesy review. hope you found it helpfull."
I was excited...

"...I enjoyed, it's good for listening while driving, or just having a good time. The music all in all is fairly uninspired however. I was expecting a little more "originality." Coming from one of my favorite labels I was excited to see a band I'd listened to quite a bit get put on the roster. The demo's the band put out were excellent, but after the departure of one of their main guitarists to Pop/rock outfit "boys will be boys" the band seems to have lost something.
Thats not to say this isn't enjoyable, it is. But it's the kind of enjoyable that as long as you don't dwell on it too much you won't be disappointed(think eating at McDonald's, insert the food and swallow, don't think). Just don't go into it with the expectation that you're about to be taken into a bands vision. This album just isn't it. I wouldn't say they lack musical ability at all, they just truly lack a sound. It's bland, fun metal I suppose, but again uninspired.
So as a lasting remark, let me state, you can't be too harsh on the guys. After all, their name is the blood code for mortal combat."
