A.B. Quintanilla III wants to have it both ways. The writer, producer, and brother of murdered Tejano goddess Selena has split the sophomore album from his band Los Kumbia Kings into English and Spanish halves. There's no ... more »strong connection between the two collections of songs, but Shhh! is still an enjoyable enough listen. Much like he did with the music of Selena, Quintanilla infuses the album's cumbia rhythms with pop, hip-hop, and R&B elements. By now, though, the trick has become a bit predictable. Songs such as "Me Enamoré" and "Me Estoy Muriendo" could easily be switched with any of the tracks on the Kumbia Kings' first album, Amor, Familia y Respeto. Better are Shhh!'s English-language tracks, which showcase a genuine hip-hop sensibility. It's easy to imagine acts such as Next or Sisqo crooning gems such as "Say It (a Million Times)," "Think'n About U," and the Rodney Jerkins-esque "In Da Zone." If they pursue that route, Quintanilla may find himself basking in the crossover success sister Selena never had a chance to enjoy. --Joey Guerra« less

"I've been living in Corpus Christi, Tx (Kumbia Kings hometown) for a little over 10 years. This is one of the best tejano band I have ever heard. SHHH! is one album you have to add to your collection. These guys are way to hot to pass up!!!!"
An incredible album!!!

"i remember running to the radio the first time i heard "BOOM BOOM", it was crazy! it had cumbia, rap, the trademark bird and even elements of john lee hooker it seemed. i knew AB had done it again. the sophmore jinx was blown out the box with this release. after i bought the album - it was like finding a pot of gold. "SSH" was even crazier! "Me Enamore" i never stop playing, the english songs are tight, and they even included 5 acts of comedy & a couple of remixes. with a lot of artists releasing albums with 2 hits & the rest fillers - AB truly wanted to give back to his fans. he did that & more!
the first album is a Classic, this one is Legendary!!! GO OUT AND GET IT!

"This album is great! I've been a A.B fan since he was with Selena and as good as he produces his Tejano music, he produces great pop and R&B music. Some people say that A.B. is a sell-out with this album, but that's simply not true because A.B. has always done R&B and pop music even when he was with Selena. This album is the outcome of AB's desire to produce the variety of music that interests him and the group. A.B and the Kumbia Kings are true to themselves, their music and fans and definitly not "sell-outs" no matter what they play; tejano, pop or R&B, they will always rock. And as for that particular person who said "This CD makes me wish someone like Yolanda would join his fan club and put an end to this sell out roller coaster, I wish Selena and A.B. could switch places, we love Selena", If you really wish something like that, then you must not Love Selena as much as you say you do, because you would'nt talk with so much disrespect about Selena's own brother. Anyway, to wrap things up, this is a great album and if you liked that the style and songs of the last album you'll like this album, too. You gotta hand it to AB, because he's the master of cumbia songs and the guys are great energetic singers. Kumbia Kings!"
Like always, they deliver their best work!

"I love the Kumbia Kings. If you're a big fan of their first album you will most definitely love this second album of theirs. They put a new twist on the genre of Cumbia, integrating freestyle and hip-hop with their songs. Also, they sing some pretty love ballads in English. It's a great, long CD with different styles of songs. Check it out - you won't regret it!"
