Album DescriptionOn October 21, 2003, Nelson Mandela launched the worldwide music-led campaign, 46664 (named after Mandela's former prisoner number), to raise awareness of the devastating impact of AIDS. On November 29, 2003, the music industry joined forces for a special concert event in Cape Town, South Africa, where over 40,000 people attended a three hour show, which was also seen by 2 billion on TV and via webcast either on that day or on World AIDS Day, on December 1. Peter Gabriel, Bono, Beyoncé, Yusuf Islam (the former Cat Stevens), Queen, and Eurythmics were among 23 artists who performed live. Now the most compelling performances from this show have been brought together on these 3 star-studded CDs that benefit the 46664 charity.
