"This is clearly Brubeck's finest recording in years, and one of the best Jazz releases of 1999. Finest of all on this wonderful CD is "Deep Purple" revealing this great musician's appreciation of just how provacative and melancholy Peter DeRose's old standard can be. Excellent sound showcasing Sony's new Direct Stream Digital recording format (for their newly introduced SACD) makes it state of the art for audiophiles too."
